The History of Omega XI CHapter

In the history of Omega Xi, we have served as the representation of the Lehigh Valley since March 10th, 1978. Several brothers from neighboring chapters such as Alpha Eta (East Stroudsburg University), Mu (University of Pennsylvania), Tau Beta (Ramapo College of NJ) and Beta Epsilon (Knoxville College) have assisted as Charter Members  in the production of Omega Xi in her earliest foundation. In Spring of 1979, Omega Xi introduced our Charter Line as the 8 Pieces of Gold, which formed the creation of Omega presence in the Lehigh Valley. Throughout the 1980’s and 1990's, Omega Xi, along with Alpha Eta, began to build their foundations with combined efforts to seek new membership in the Lehigh Valley and Pocono Mountains through the campuses of East Stroudsburg University, Lehigh University, Bloomsburg University,  Kutztown University and Lafayette College.
After a boost in momentum through the 1990s, Omega Xi continued to work on their growth as a chapter and promoting membership entering the year of 2000. In the early 2000’s, Omega found a way to continue their growth in membership in 2001 through 2004, where the revamping of both Omega Xi and Alpha Eta happened. In 2004, Omega Xi and Alpha Eta were able to initiate 8 new members in between the two chapters with the addition of a new school, Muhlenberg College. With the new energy brought into the Valley and Poconos, we were honored to host the first Second District Shirtsleeve Conference in Allentown, PA, where this event brought one of the largest business gatherings of black men into the area’s history.
Throughout the timeline of 2004 to 2020, Omega Xi’s steam continued to build in membership over the term of two decades. In the years 2007 through 2010, Omega Xi grew its membership by initiating 15 members into the brotherhood. With the growth of Omega Xi going into the 2010s, the years 2012 through 2016, Omega Xi has grown in membership with 14 new members into the fraternity. From 2018 to 2020, Omega Xi has expanded in numbers of members and added 3 new schools: Moravian University, Delaware Valley University and Albright College. With this new influx of schools, the chapter was able to bring in another 25 new brothers into Omega. As of the present day in 2025 , Omega Xi has been able to reactivate in the  Lehigh Valley and acquired 1 new member into our beloved Fraternity bringing more strength in presence and recognition as we continue our work for Omega.
